There are various types of electrical measuring instruments and these should be used appropriately according to the measurement parameters and objectives.

In this article, we will introduce the features of digital multimeters, clamp meters, and voltage testers.

A digital multimeter can measure the voltage, current, and resistance of a direct current (DC) or alternating current (AC).

However, before measurement, it is necessary to cut the wiring in the circuit and connect the multimeter in series.

A clamp meter can measure current without the need to cut the wiring, allowing measurement while the circuit is energized.

AC-only and AC/DC dual-use types are available.

Some products can also measure voltage and resistance by connecting test leads.

Non-contact voltage meter

A voltage tester can detect AC voltage signals even from the outside of insulated wires.

However, it cannot measure the magnitude of current or voltage in numerical values.

Each type of electrical measuring instrument has its own characteristics, as described above.

All of these instruments help to protect the lives of workers involved in electrical work.

Let's measure correctly according to the purpose and application.
