Improving Work Efficiency with the Pomodoro Technique

One method of time management to enhance focus and accomplish tasks efficiently is the Pomodoro Technique.

The specific method is as follows

Perform a task for 25 minutes

Take a 5-minute break.

③Repeat steps ①and 2②for 3 more cycles.

④Take a longer break of about 20-30 minutes.

⑤Repeat steps ① to 4④.

When practicing the Pomodoro Technique, it is important to aim to complete the assigned task within one pomodoro.

One Pomodoro refers to the combination of steps ① and 2② mentioned above, meaning '25 minutes of work + 5 minutes of break'

To ensure tasks can be completed within the 25-minute work time, it is important to break down larger tasks into smaller ones.

During the 5-minute break, it is important to take a proper break and not to engage in any work.

Avoid checking emails or answering phone calls during this time.

Instead of engaging in Internet browsing or watching TV,

it is beneficial to relax or have a cup of coffee to improve your focus when working.

There are ways to manage time like using a regular timer or setting the timer on a smartphone.

While useful, it can be cumbersome setting the timer each time and there is a possibility that you will get distracted by

the smartphone instead.

The AD-5701A-E timer allows you to set three different time intervals, making it easy to practice the Pomodoro Technique.

ポモドーロ・テクニック

Specifically, you set each timer as shown in the diagram below.

When the alarm of TIMER1, set to '25 minutes,' goes off,

①The 25-minute work period is completed."

"After 5 minutes, when the alarm of TIMER2, set to '30 minutes,' goes off,

② The 5-minute break period is over, indicating completion of one pomodoro.

With the AD-5701A-E, you can easily set an ended timer channel to the last used setting (Reload function).

You can utilize this function to repeat the time settings for TIMER1 and TIMER2 four times.

After repeating the cycle four times, two hours will have passed and the remaining time on TIMER3, set to '2 hours 30 minutes,'

should be roughly 30 minutes.

After completing four pomodoro, you can now enter the longer break period (Step 4) without needing to set the timer again.

Alternatively, setting the timer to repeat four cycles of '25 minutes of work + 5 minutes of break' is easy

with the AD-5709TL-E  interval timers, too.
